We’re so glad you’re exploring our small, student-centered learning community. Here’s everything you need to know about joining our multi-grade classroom.
Who We Serve:
PivotED welcomes students from Kindergarten through 12th grade into a mixed-age learning environment that’s flexible, personal, and engaging. We’re designed for families seeking a nurturing, academically strong alternative to traditional school—where progress is measured by each child’s growth, not by a standard mold.
Admissions Process
Submit an Interest Form
Start by completing our online Interest Form, where you’ll tell us a little about your child and what you’re looking for in their education.Schedule a Parent Call
Once we’ve reviewed your form, we’ll set up a short 15-minute conversation to talk about your goals, answer questions, and see if PivotED feels like the right fit—for your family and for us.Enrollment Decision
We’ll let you know our decision shortly after the interview. If your child is accepted, we’ll send over enrollment forms and details to get started.Trial Day Option
Families are welcome to schedule a trial day for their student. During this visit, the student will shadow a current PivotED learner to get a feel for our routines and culture. Because individualized learning paths are created after enrollment, the trial day experience will be slightly different—but still a great snapshot of what learning at PivotED feels like.
Ongoing Enrollment
We accept students on a rolling basis until we reach our maximum of 12 students. Once full, additional families will be placed on a waitlist and contacted as space becomes available.

We Follow Standards, Not Scripts
At PivotED, we use the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) as our academic compass—not our cage. We stay aligned to the standards, but we don’t treat them like a rigid checklist. And when we see something isn’t working for a student, we pivot—quickly and intentionally.Instead, we build learning experiences that honor the standards while giving us the freedom to teach in ways that actually work for real kids. We use a mix of high-quality resources—IXL, Easy Peasy, RealScience4Kids, Dave Ramsey curriculum for older students, books, hands-on projects, leveled tasks, and tech tools—to make sure concepts stick.
This balanced approach keeps learning engaging, personalized, and meaningful—without losing sight of academic rigor, structure, or the bigger picture of what students truly need to thrive.
-
While PivotED doesn’t offer specific Bible lessons, we also don’t separate learning from faith. We don’t preach—we simply weave Scriptural connections into our real-world projects when it’s natural and appropriate. This helps students see how faith shows up in everyday life, shaping not just strong thinkers but grounded, purpose-driven young people.

A Developmentally Aligned, Spiraling Model Built on TOIE (K–12)
At PivotED, Human Skills are a core part of learning—not an add-on, not enrichment, and not something addressed only when problems arise.
Human Skills are taught, practiced, and revisited through a predictable, spiraling structure grounded in our TOIE framework:
Thinking · Ownership · Interaction · Effect
These four pillars guide how students learn to navigate academics, relationships, decisions, and real life.
How the Human Skills Model Works
All students engage in the same core Human Skills themes throughout the year. These themes rotate on a consistent cycle, allowing skills to deepen over time rather than being taught once and left behind.
While themes are shared schoolwide, expectations and application are developmentally aligned by age band (K–2, 3–4, 5–6, 7–8, 9–12).
✔ Skills grow with students
Human Skills mature as students mature. What begins as guided awareness in younger grades develops into independence, leadership, and real-world responsibility in later years.
Through TOIE, students learn to:
Think through situations intentionally
Take Ownership of their choices
Understand how their actions Interact with others and systems
Respond to the Effect of those actions, including repair when needed
✔ Learning builds—it doesn’t reset
Each rotation revisits the same Human Skills themes, but with increased depth, responsibility, and complexity. Students don’t start over; they build knowledge mobility and mastery over time.
✔ Developmentally appropriate application
All students explore the same theme at the same time, but the work looks different at each stage.
For example:
Younger students may practice listening, sharing responsibility, sorting coins, helping with classroom routines, or identifying emotions.
Older students may manage budgets, plan and lead projects, cook meals, conduct empathy interviews, manage planners or digital calendars, and engage in meaningful community service.
The theme stays consistent.
The application grows up.✔ Shared language, differentiated expectations
Using a shared Human Skills framework builds community and consistency across grade levels, while differentiated tasks ensure students are appropriately challenged and supported.
✔ Mastery develops over years, not days
By revisiting Human Skills multiple times each year—and year after year—students develop confidence, responsibility, and real-life readiness that compounds over time.
Faith Integration (Intentional and Grounded)
Faith is woven into Human Skills through character development—such as responsibility, service, empathy, integrity, and reflection. It supports growth without pressure, allowing students to engage at their own pace and level of understanding.
The Core Human Skills Themes
These themes provide the context through which TOIE is practiced:
Financial & Practical Responsibility
Earning, saving, budgeting, stewardship, cooking, organizing, and everyday life management.Time Management & Self-Leadership
Planning, prioritizing, routines, follow-through, independence, and self-management.Communication & Relationships
Listening, clear expression, empathy, collaboration, conflict resolution, and peacemaking.Service, Leadership & Community Impact
Teamwork, leadership roles, service projects, helping others, and meaningful community engagement.Emotional & Faith Wellness
Emotional regulation, gratitude, resilience, identity, prayer, character, and reflection. The Big Picture
Human Skills at PivotED are not about rushing students into adulthood.
They are about teaching students how to think, take ownership, understand impact, and respond responsibly—at every age.Good humans aren’t accidental.
They’re developed with intention.
