Explore the PivotED Mission
At PivotED, we are building more than a school—we are creating a thoughtful, supportive learning environment where students grow through meaningful, real-world experiences. Our mission is to honor each child’s unique path, nurture curiosity, and support learning that extends beyond the classroom and into everyday life.
We believe education works best in partnership—with families, with community, and with the world students are learning to navigate. Through conversation, collaboration, and service, students learn how their words and actions affect others and how to engage with the world responsibly and thoughtfully.
Because knowledge alone isn’t enough, PivotED intentionally integrates life and leadership skills into daily learning. Students practice communication, problem-solving, collaboration, financial awareness, and practical “adulting” skills alongside academics. Learning is not just something students do—it’s something they apply.
At PivotED, we’re not focused on preparing students for a distant future. We’re helping them build the skills, confidence, and responsibility they need to engage meaningfully with life right now.
Academics that Support and Inspire
We are committed to upholding Texas standards. However, recognizing that one curriculum cannot meet every student's needs, we implement multiple curricula to effectively support each student's unique learning journey.
We provide a warm and personalized educational experience that helps students become well-rounded scholars, lifelong learners, and caring individuals. Our goal is to prepare everyone for their next steps in education, encouraging them to be thoughtful and compassionate thinkers along the way.
Multi-grade learning empowers children to explore similar concepts from various perspectives. This approach fosters knowledge mobility that benefits each student in a different way and enhances critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, equipping kids to excel in diverse academic and social environments.
A Look at a Day at PivotED
Each day at PivotED is intentionally designed to balance focused academics, human skill development, and real-world application—without rushing students or filling every moment with noise.
Morning: Focused Academics
Students begin the day with structured academic work in core subject areas. Younger students receive direct instruction and guided support, while older students work more independently through online coursework and workbooks, supported by teachers through coaching, accountability, and check-ins throughout the morning.
This focused academic time helps students work efficiently, grow in independence, and build strong learning habits—with guidance at every stage.
Midday: Support & Collaboration
As students complete their academic work, time is built in for small-group support, discussion, and clarification. This may include reviewing concepts, asking questions, or working alongside peers.
Students are encouraged to communicate clearly, take ownership of their learning, and support one another in a shared environment.
Afternoon: Learning to Live Well
Afternoons are dedicated to Learning to Live Well—helping students practice the real responsibilities and decisions that come with everyday life. Through guided conversations, hands-on experiences, and applied projects, students learn how to make thoughtful choices, solve problems, work with others, and take responsibility for their actions.
Learning may include real-world experiences such as budgeting, cooking, planning, or service-oriented work, giving students opportunities to apply academic skills while learning how to be capable, considerate, and responsible people.
Throughout the Day
Students learn to reflect on their choices, consider how their actions affect others, and take responsibility when repair is needed. Mistakes are treated as part of learning, and growth is supported through intentional guidance—not punishment.
The result is a learning environment that is calm, relational, and purpose-driven—where students are prepared not just for the next academic step, but for real life.
Progress Monitoring
To accurately assess your student's academic level, they will take a placement test using the same MAP test used in many public schools. Based on these scores a specific learning path is mapped out according to their needs. Following the MAP testing results we use IXL to progress monitor and set lessons specific to their individual needs. K-2 have direct teacher instruction while the upper grades take responsibility for their learning and follow an online curriculum with support and small groups from another teacher. MAP testing is given 3x per year to monitor their growth throughout the year. We aim teach the student not the grade.
